Park lease
Sir,—lf an entrepreneur applied to the City Council for a lease of Elizabeth Park the council could grant it subject to the consent of the Minister of Lands. But that is not the case with the Mount Cavendish Reserve. The application to the City Council for the lease of Mount Cavendish for the gondola project was an application to the wrong authority. The chairman of the Parks and Recreation Committee (June 19) is compounding the city’s error when he says the Minister of Lands is “the final authority.” The Minister is not the final authority; he is the only authority.—Yours, etc., GEOF GEORGIEFF. June 20, 1986.
