GM in Egypt
The U.S. car maker, General Motors, has announced it has won Egyptian Government approval to produce cars in Egypt under one of the biggest U.S. joint venture schemes in the Middle East. Under the project, involving a total investment of about SUS3OO million (SNZS64 million), a new firm called General Mlsr Car Company will start producing Opel models next year from imported kits at an existing Egyptian State-owned plant. Rainbow approved The Commerce Commission has approved a proposal for Rainbow Corporation, Ltd, to acquire up to 100 per cent of Abacus Consolidated, Ltd.
