Hospital delays

NZPA Sydney Waiting lists for surgery in Australia’s public hospitals are getting so long that by the time patients who originally needed suchi treatments as artery surgery are treated, they are having to have the limb amputated instead. The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons says worsening delays mean patients can now wait up to 18 months for treatment and the delays mean they are sicker by the time they eventually undergo surgery, and take longer to recover.
