Family Life

Sir, —It is heartening for members of the Family Life Education Council (Canterbury) to read the comment of a world authority on education for parenthood, Professor Richard Whitfield (June 9). For the last 20 years the council has promoted the need for an increased knowledge of the processes of human development in the community, including secondary schools. However, we are disheartened by the lack of secure funding, grants, and gifts of money to carry out this important preventive work. Money is often given to the organisations that deal with the effects of break-down, but not so readily for preventive work. —Yours, etc., AILSA DENSEM, President. June 9, 1986.
