Win for Idle Thoughts
Idle Thoughts held out a late challenge from Penta to win the main heat at the Motukarara workouts, recording 3min 36s for the 2600 m, with the last 800 m taking 59.6 s and the final 400 m in 29.25. Lustre Fella, was too strong for Jayess and the pacemaker, Allemond, in the main trotters’ heat, posting 3min 34.85. Balavinda (3min 50.25) and Artamus quineliaed the two-year-old heat, the final 400 m taking 30.25. Turpin, a three-year-old Nat Lobell gelding which has recovered from a near fatal attack of strangles, showed gameness to win an unqualified pace in 3min 38.55. Other winners were Rockey Spot (3min 39.45), Bruno Gold (3min 39.15), Karina Lee (3min 53.35), Star Lobell (3min 34.15), Skywalker (3min 35.45) and the deadheaters, Vol Au Vent and Sheasa Bromac (3min 36.65).
