Political suicide?

To an enraptured world, Marilyn Monroe was the ultimate screen goddess. Her death only managed to add fuel to the fire that sealed the lid on the legend.

Had she lived, she would have celebrated her sixtieth birthday yesterday. But she died, and tonight’s documentary on Two at 9.40 balances the official version with evidence that suggests an alternative story.

“Marilyn — Say Goodbye To The President” suggests the star was intimately involved with both John and Bobby Kennedy, and that her regression and suicide

was brought about by Bobby Kennedy’s rejection for political safety.

The programme reveals that the Teamsters boss, Jimmy Hoffa, secretly tapped her encounters with the Kennedy brothers, and points to evidence that has Bobby Kennedy visiting her the night she died. It seems there were some four hours between her death and the police being called, and the documentary suggests that there was a big police and political cover-up of the real events leading up to and immediately after she died.
