Rugby team to dribble home

NZPA staff correspondent Johannesburg

The Cavaliers’ coach, Colin Meads, and manager, lan Kirkpatrick, left South Africa for London yesterday. ,

Several members of the team accompanied them. Others will return to New Zealand by different routes.

Mr Meads has to return for a meeting with the New Zealand Rugby Union next week. Mr Kirkpatrick will stop off for a short holiday in Brisbane.

Some of the players are stopping over in London and others on the west coast of the United States.

Mr Kirkpatrick said the party did not plan to return home in dribs and drabs. “It’s just the way it has worked because of flights out of here.”

A number of the players will return via Taiwan tomorrow. Some will head for Rio de Janiero as a direct stopover.

The remainder of the party will fly out from Harare, thence to Perth and Sydney, on Thursday.
