Application forms are obtainable on request from the Chief Executive, Canterbury Hospital Board, Private Bag, Christchurch, to whom completed application forms should be addressed. Further Information may be obtained from the Assistant Medical Superintendent In Chief (Dr T. S. Weston), Canterbury Hospital Board. Appointments are made in the following disciplines: ANAESTHESIA INTENSIVE CARE THERAPY ONE POSITION MEDICINE and its SUB-SPECIALTIES, including Geriatric, Intensive Care (one rotating post) and Medical Oncology OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY PAEDIATRICS PATHOLOGY and its SUB-SPECIALTIES PSYCHOLOGICAL MEDICINE RADIOLOGY RADIOTHERAPY AND ONCOLOGY SURGERY and Its SUB-SPECIALTIES (except Cardiac Surgery) Salary scales are in accordance with the Health Service Determination applicable to Medical officers on the scale for Registrars. In addition to service work for the Canterbury Hospital Board, the majority of Registrar posts have teaching duties to medical students of the Christchurch Clinical School of Medicine of the University of Otago (145 students in the three clinical years). Registrar posts to the Academic Units associated with the Christchurch Clinical School of Medicine are included in the advertisement. On runs to which Medical Students are attached, Registrars will be expected to be Involved in teaching students, and for this purpose they are given the status of “Clinical Tutors.” The Canterbury Hospital Board Institutions are approved by the Royal Colleges for training, subject to appropriate hours. Applicants may apply for general or specialist positions and may ask to be considered for more than one post. In all cases, applicants must be prepared to remain for a full year. The new year will commence on December 8, 1986, arid be completed November, 1987. Special arrangements may be made with applicants who have commitments that would delay commencing in December.

The Canterbury and South Canterbury Hospital Boards have agreed on an exchange programme for the benefit of both Boards and trainees. Medical and Surgical Registrars appointed to the Canterbury Hospital Board must agree to spend up to six months at Tlmaru, if required. This exchange scheme Is approved by the Royal Colleges of Australasia. It is planned that Part II trainees in Medicine will normally be involved in this scheme, but any appointee may be required to participate. It Is realised that Part 1 F.R.A.C.P. examinations will be held In July/August. Candidates sitting this examination should submit applications, and Indicate their subspecialty Interest if proceeding to part II F.R.A.C.P. Some changes may occur during the year due to the MlO Determination. TARANAKI HOSPITAL BOARD ENGINEER HAWERA HOSPITAL APPLICANTIONS are invited for the position of Engineer at the Hawera Hospital. The duties Include management and supervision of maintenance and engineering services. Applicants should hold a third Marine Engineers Certificate or equivalent. Previous experience In Hospital Engineering will be an advantage. Salary will be $25,939/$28,103.
