Remember Hendrix
“Jimi Hendrix,” the “12 O’clock Rock” special on One is a documentary about one of the most acclaimed and famous of all rock guitarists. It explains his short, but incredible career, featuring interviews with Hendrix himself, and associates, both musical* and personal. The Who’s Pete Townshend admits that next to Hendrix he was reduced to strumming. There are
candid interviews with early cohorts, his father, Al, and other musical personalities, including Mick Jagger, Little Richard, Lou Reed and the former Animal and Hendrix manager, Chas Chandler. It includes some of his stunning performances and rare concert footage, before he died at the age of 27 in 1970 from vomit inhalation — with narcotics a contributing factor.
