Injured player ‘comfortable’
A Hutt Valley Marist rugby player, Alan Boyd, paralysed in a rugby match three weeks ago, is reported in a fairly comfortable condition in Burwood Hospital’s spinal injury unit. Mr Boyd underwent surgery several days ago to stabilise his neck. The surgery was a success, although Mr Boyd remained completely paralysed with no feeling below the arms, said a spinal injury unit spokesman.
