N.Z. to buy 105mm guns
NZPA-AAP Canberra The New Zealand Government will buy 24 105 mm light guns from the Australian Government at a cost of sAustl2 million ($NZ15.36 million), the Australian Acting Defence Minister, Mr Brown, announced. The guns, code-named Hamel in Australia, will
be identical to the 59 on order for the Australian Army, and are being manufactured by the Commonwealth ordnance factories. Mr Brown said the New Zealand decision came after talks between the Australian Defence Minister, Mr Beazley, and his New Zealand counterpart, Mr O’Flynn, in Canberra.
