One of New Zealand’s hopes for the marathon in the forthcoming Edinburgh Commonwealth Games, Mary O’Connor, about to process an entry from the Governor-General, Sir Paul Reeves, for the Moro City of Christchurch marathon on June 1. Sir Paul, who has not previously competed in a race such as this, has entered for the half-marathon which will be held in conjunction with the main race. Miss O’Connor, who recently finished runner-up to Grete Waitz (Norway) in the London marathon, will also run the half-marathon. Both races will start and finish at Queen Elizabeth II Park.
