Waitaki checks drift north
Wellington may be the city which has a premium on the nation’s head offices, but Christchurchbased Waitaki international is making sure the drift is not all to the north. Waitaki bought out Borthwick’s New Zealand last month for $65 million. Waitaki’s operations manager, Mr Max Willyams, said in Christchurch that the staff of Borthwick’s head office in Wellington had been offered jobs at the head office in Christchurch. He said he expected 60 or 70 of the staff of about 150 to accept the offer. Those who accepted would be mainly marketing personnel. They would be given office space on a floor of the Waitaki head office, which is at present occupied. by computer staff, who will move soon to a separate building.
