SALMON GLENARIFFE SALMON RESEARCH STATION OPEN WEEKEND APRIL 26-27 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. DISPLAYS will include the operation of the fish trap, the handling of adult salmon, Juvenile salmon in raceways, tagging of Juvenile salmon and information boards. The adult salmon pen will be emptied at 11 o’clock and the ripe adults stripped at approximately 2 o’clock. The research station is 130 km from Christchurch at the head of the Rakala River. The turnoff from highway 72 (5 km south of the Rakala Gorge Bridge) will be signposted. The station is 48 km from the turn-off and most of the road Is not sealed. Average travel time is two hours from Christchurch.
