Call for child care centres
PA Dunedin Local body election candidates standing for seats on hospital boards have been warned to be ready to express their commitment to child care centres, or be beaten at the polls. The warning is from a Federation of Labour executive member and a former president of the New Zealand Child Care
Association, Mrs Sonja Davies, who opened the Otago Hospital Board’s hospital child care centre in Dunedin this week. Mrs Davies said there was a need for child care centres and in cases like hospitals, where the facility is provided for workers’ children, hospital board members must be prepared to ensure the centres survived.
