English win junior squash

NZPA staff correspondent Sydney The power of the English professionals proved too much for the New Zealand amateurs when they clashed in the world squash junior teams championships in Brisbane. The English kept an iron grip on the clash to win, 3-0, and now head the second round pool. Australia beat Scotland in the other half of the draw, giving both teams a win each, and the pool

standings will be finalised when New Zealand meets Australia, and England takes on the Scots. Michael McSherry opened for the New Zealanders against Robert Graham, and after losing the first game, 2-9, raced to an 8-0 lead in the second before the Englishman won the next 10 points straight. Graham wrapped it up in the third to come out 92, 10-8, 9-2. The final tournament placings will be decided this week-end.
