Opera House problems
NZPA-AAP Sydney Sydney’s famous Opera House is inefficient in design and uneconomic, with many of its features being difficult to maintain or replace, a New South Wales parliamentary committee was told. Fittings such as doorknobs and lighting were one-off designs and the Opera House was now facing replacement probems after years of wear and
tear, according to the general manager of the Sydney Opera House Trust, David Lloyd Martin. Many items at the unique Opera House were designed by architects and suitable replacements were difficult to find, he said.
“A lot of these items are no longer available,” Mr Martin told the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee.
