Bank to start N.Z. branch
Morgan Grenfell and Company, Ltd, the merchant bank has announced the establishment of a New Zealand subsidiary, Morgan Grenfell New Zealand, Ltd. Morgan Grenfell said it had already developed a close association with a significant number of New Zealand companies and had handled the stock exchange listing in Australia for Feltex, Chase Corporation and Robt Jones Investments, as well as the New Zealand listing for FAI Insurance and Adelaide Steamship. In the United States Morgan Grenfell was financial adviser to the Brierley subsidiary, Industrial Equity (Pacific), Ltd, in its acquisition of the Higbee Company. The head office for New Zealand will be in Auckland and the managing director will be Dr Don Turkington, formerly corporate finance manager of Challenge Corporate Services, and a former member of the Prime Minister’s advisory group. Dr Turkington said the company would initially concentration on corporate and project advisory services and capital markets activities, later expanding into other investment banking functions. Morgan Grenfell is a Lon-don-based financial institution, which goes back to 1838.
