Youthful rescue mission
When the father of Doug Masters (Jason Gedrick, above) is shot down and taken hostage in a Middle Eastern country, he turns to Chappy Sinclair (Louis Gossett, jun.), a retired Air Force officer, to help him plan an unauthorised air rescue mission in “Iron Eagle,” which will start at the Avon today.
During the mission, Doug, aged 18, learns that sometimes people are judged more by performance than by experience — and that a boy becomes a man when he takes charge of his own destiny.
There were many things special about the making of this film, said the executive producer, Kevin Elders.
“First of all, there’s a theatrical weapon, the F--16 fighter jet There have
been a lot of movies that put kids in extraordinary situations, but nothing like this. A kid flying the ultimate weapon in the world; it’s like taking ‘Star Wars’ and putting it on Earth,” said Elders.
