Halley’s Comet will rise at 12.6 a.m. tomorrow, 130 degrees from north, when viewed from Christchurch. (East is south is 180 deg.) It would have climbed to lOdeg. above-the horizon by 1.12 a.m. and will be 119 deg. from north.

At 5.28 a.m. the comet will have moved to 77 deg. from north and

55deg. above the horizon. The sky will begin to brighten from then.

It will rise again tomorrow at 11.52 p.m., 131 deg. from north. It will be lOdeg. above the horizon and 120 deg. from north at 1 a.m. on Monday.

It will reach an altitude of about 76deg. from north when the sky beging to brighten at 5.31 a.m. Co-ordinates for Nelson, Ashburton, and Greymouth are similar but will be reached a few minutes later than those given for Christchurch.
