Swimmers chance
PA Hamilton Six swimmers have been nominated for Commonwealth Games selection after breaking the qualifying times during the BNZ national swimming championships in Hamilton.
They are Ross Anderson (Auckland) butterfly, Grant Forbes (Canterbury) breaststroke, Richard Lockhart (Auckland) breaststroke, Kirk Torrance (Auckland) backstroke, Sylvia Hume (Auckland) backstroke and Muffy Torrance (Auckland) backstroke.
Also nominated are three swimmers training overseas — Michael Davidson (Auckland) freestyle, Paul Kingsman (Auckland) backstroke,
and Anthony Mosse (Auckland) butterfly.
Other swimmers in New Zealand who break the qualifying standard by March 31 will be nominated.
An extension to May 31 ■has been granted to three 1984 Olympians who are overseas, Carmel Clark (Hawke’s Bay-Poverty
Bay) freestyle and backstroke, Gary Hurring (Auckland) backstroke, and Anna Doig (Wellington) freestyle and butterfly.
Divers nominated are Raymond Vallance (Waikato), Mark Graham (Auckland) and Nicky Cooney (Waikato).
