Gymnast picked
PA Auckland Patricia Hume, an Auckland rhythmic gymnast, aged 18, has been selected in the New Zealand team to defend the Trans-Tasman Cup in spite of having to withdraw from the last three events of the weekend trials. Hume, suffering from influenza, was awarded an average of nine marks for each of the second round ball, clubs and ribbons to give her a total of 71.62 from 44.62 actual points, and the 27 points awarded. This put her in third place in the trials behind the New Zealand champion, Angela Walker, and Tanya Moss, . both of whom are in the team of six seniors to defend the
cup against Australia in June. Joining the Aucklanders in the senior team are Katherine Nicholson (Dunedin), Lynette King (Tauranga), and Melanie Cairns (Waikato). Denise Harvey (New Plymouth) ; is the reserve and Annalise Sonntag (Waikato) the non-travelling reserve. Chosen for the junior individual team were: Tracey Anderson, Katie Agnew, Melanie Barker, Hannah Clark (Dunedin), Kathryn Hughes (Christ- " church), and Raewyn Jack. Elizabeth Boak is the reserve. Tracey 2 Cooksley, named as nontravelling reserve, gained a place in the junior group team and will 2 travel.
