Showcase’s latest releases include: “South Bronx Heroes.” Mario van Peebles (“The Exterminator”) stars in this action-packed drama about two young orphaned teenagers who seek refuge in the crime-ridden neighbourhood of the South Bronx.
“Margin For Murder.” A who-done-it. A private eye, Mike Hammer, wants only the truth. His best friend, Joey, is dead and the police close the case as accidental death. A Mickey Spillane story. “Beyond The Edge.” This offers a special once-in-a-lifetime exploration of the Coral Sea, and a remote detached reef with the world’s top fishermen after yellow tuna, red bass, giant dogtooth tuna and sharks. One of a series.
“Naughty Girls — Need Love Too.” If California is the swinging centre of the ? United States, then Marina Del Rey is the in-spot of the sunny state — sultry stewardesses, sexy secretaries, naughty nurses and, most importantly, the guys with the time and money to entertain them.
“Savage Dawn,” starring George Kennedy, Karen Black and Richard Lynch. This is the story of Ben Stryker who is sick of the world’s wars. It has become impossible to tell the difference between the good guys and the bad buys and he is dropping out. He stops off to see a friend and mentor Tick Rand when the lawless
motorcycle gang, the Savages, invades the town and soon takes it over. The only chance is Stryker. “Hit Man,” starring Christopher Mitchum and John Philip Law. This is the story of a former Green Beret who accidentally kills a leading dope dealer. To even the score a gang of druggies kills his son and rapes his wife. One by one Mitchell tracks them down and kills them, not realising the feds have been watching, and eventually they grab him. They make a deal with him to lead a rat pack on a mission to clean out the Golden Triangle’s main factory. “Away From It AH,” number six in the series by Mai Florence and Australia’s foremost sport fishing author, Vic McCristal. This movie provides an hour of unreal scenes as they fish areas hundreds of miles from civilisation.
