Brosnan will drive Mythical
Special correspondent
Dunedin
Richard Brosnan has indicated that he will drive Mythical, one of three runners he has in the heat of the D.B. Export Fillies Series at Forbury Park tomorrow evening. Mythical won fresh up for Brosnan over 2400 m at Ashburton last Saturday. She is by Locarno from Seafield Hanover, which won the 1977 North Island Oaks when trained by Brosnan. Seafield Hanover gained her initial win at Ashburton in December, 1976.
Brosnan is seeking drivers for French Heritage and Little Yellow Book, second and third respectively to Michele Bromac in the D.B. heat at Ashburton last Saturday. Brosnan drove French Heritage and Jack Carmichael drove Little Yellow Book that day. The Forbury Park race is the last of the South Island heats in the D.B. Series. Heats will be run at Cambridge on March 25 and at the Thames meeting on April 4 before
the $85,000 final at Addington Raceway on May 3. Kiwi River, Gina Rosa, Michele Bromac and Ollie's Chance are guaranteed a start in the final as heat winners. Gina Rosa, which won at Addington on February 7, is engaged tomorrow, along with her stablemate, Lady Sovereign. Both are trained at Weedons by Jack Smolensk!. Laudit, winner of the John Brandon Fillies Classic at Addington last week, and Carefree Princess, winner of the Southland Oaks Final at Wyndham last Saturday, are also in the field. Laudit has drawn the second line, which may not prove insurmountable to a filly of her talent. Preferred started from the second line when she won the corresponding race in 1983 and carried on to win the final at Alexandra Park.
Mike de Filippi has been engaged for the Cambridge-trained Rosewood Summit. She was a CO winner on her home course on February 14.
