Interest easier
PA Wellington Money-market interest rates have eased gently in the last week, and shortterm rates have shown the most movement. Dealers said a newfound confidence that the early March tax take would not disrupt the market this year had led to the lower rates. September, 1989, Government stock was quoted at 19.3 per cent yesterday morning, down from 19.7 per cent a week ago. Five-year October 1991 stock was at 18.6 per cent (18.7 per cent last week) and July 1994 stock was at 17.9 per cent (18.15 per cent). Prime 90-day commercial bills have eased in the past week in reaction to the confidence in the short-term market.
