Sir,—l cannot think of anything worse than having all our councils amalgamated into one central body. I think most people would agree that when the police had suburban stations and knew most people in their area there was less crime and a far better relationship between the police and the public. Anyone who has worked in a large business will know that the more centralised administration is the more and more out of touch the administrators can get with what is going on in the branches.
