Some Wellington wool up

PA Wellington Prices for better grades of wool were mostly up at the combined Auckland, Wanganui and Wellington sale at Wellington on Thursday. Of 9525 bales offered 19 per cent was fleece, 22 per cent second-shear, 42 per cent lambswool, and the rest oddments.

Competition was keen throughout. The Wool Board bid on 22 per cent and bought 7 per cent.

The market indicators were 462 c clean and 344 c greasy.

The main buyers were from Eastern Europe and Asia. New Zealand carpet mills and scourers also

were prominent. Good style fleece was in the sellers’, favour and poor types in buyers’ favour. Cotts were up by cent. Good-aver-age and average secondshear was down as much as minus 5 per cent on previous sales. A big premium was paid for good clear autumn-shorn wool. - '

First grade lamb’s wool of average style and better was up 21 y 2 per cent, and average to poor down 21 per cent. Poor and discoloured was down 7i/ 2 per cent. Prices.— Crossbred fleece, 35 micron, 105/ 115 mm: Good 482 to 498,
