Woman left before court appearance
PA Auckland A Samoan woman who married her brother so she could stay in New Zealand has gone back to Samoa before she was to have appeared in court.
A warrant was ordered for the arrest of Luisa Fetalaiga, aged 29, when she failed to appear in the District Court at Henderson.
Paulo Penese, aged 31, machinest, admitted feigning a marriage with his sister on July 23, 1984, knowing it to be void. Counsel, Mr Loukas Nicola, said no sentence could outweigh the shame, guilt and remorse Penese' had felt. When he lived in Samoa he was training to be a priest Judge Satyanand sentenced him to 175 hours community service.
