Private prosecution laid
A private prosecution alleging that a woman committed perjury during a murder trial held in the High Court at Wellington three years ago has been laid in the District Court in Christchurch. The woman, aged 31,
represented by Mr Emo Bedo, was remanded without plea to next week. Her name was suppressed by Judge Palmer. The prosecution was brought by Wayne Carstairs, a prison inmate, who was represented by
Mr D. C. Fitzgibbon.. The charge of perjury relates to the trial of Carstairs and another man were sentenced to life imprisonment for the softball bat murder of Robert Cancian.
