Pacific university
NZPA-Reuter Paris France said yesterday that it would build a university in the South Pacific and boost scientific research there as first steps in a long-range plan to improve strained ties with its regional neighbours. The creation of a French-language university later this year was announced after the first meeting of the South Pacific Council, a newlyformed group set up by the President, Mr Francois Mitterrand, to improve France’s image in the area.
