Newcomer wins bowls
Betty Atkins, who is in her first season of bowls in Christchurch, skipped a Burnside team to victory in the final at Dallington yesterday of the women’s champion-of-champions fours.
Mrs Atkins moved from Wanaka at the end of last winter and like her team, Chris Ward, Yvonne Howman and Pat Shivas,

The scoring was close until Mrs Atkins got a four on the twentieth end to
take, a 20-15 lead. She added a single on the last end’to make the final scored 21-15. In the semi-finals Mrs Atkins' avenged hef> loss to Joan Rennie (Rangiora) at the same stage of the triples last, week with a 17-15 victory l and * Mrs Griffin eliminated t-Lor-raine Carson (Woolston Park), 30-21. t \v
