Skills competitions for apprentices

PA Hamilton Apprentices from round New Zealand will battle it out in trades skills competitions at Mystery Creek on March 7,8, and 9. The Skilympics, as they are called, will bring together New Zealand’s top apprentice trades people. Regional competitions decided the finalists earlier this year.

The competitions will also feature trade displays divided into appropriate industry groups. Friday, March 7, will be a special trade and schools day, although members of the general public will also be welcome.

The National Field Days Society’s promotions manager, Ms Valerie Millington, said emphasis would be placed on careers information at the Syilympics. The vocational guidance centre would staff a careers information bureau, .and in- ■ ‘fc

formation on careers would also be available from trades stands.
