Another Kiss shapes well

Special correspondent Wellington

The mare, Another Kiss, has been successful oh Trentham before and by the way she worked there yesterday she looks to have some chance of succeeding again when she contests the 'Grigg Mazda Handicap tomorrow.

Gallopers trained at Trentham were the only ones to work at any pace yesterday. A handful of visitors had arrived, but they were restricted to light tasks. Fast work took place on the inside of the trial which was easy. So is the course proper, which should provide good going if there is no further rain. The forecast, though, is not encouraging.

A false rail will be in use tomorrow. It will start from the 1000 m and will carry on through the front straight and will end at the 1600 m start

Yesterday Another Kiss was six lengths clear of Tippler at the finish of 1200 m, the final 800 in 51.4 s and the last 600 in 37.85. Another Kiss won over 1600 m at Trentham last April. Tippler has not raced since winning the Stayers’ Plate at Te Rapa earlier in the month. He is not in tomorrow but will start in the Boulcott Handicap (2000 m on Wednesday.

Hush Up ended his work with 609 m in 40s. He is in the Paekakariki Maiden at Awapuni today.

Lacertion, which makes his debut in the first of the Pacific Maidens, ran 800 m in 51.65, the last 600 in 355. High Maid, which is in the Second Pacific Maiden, was given a light task. She drew attention to her prospects with a matinee success at Tauherenikau earlier in the week. Rain would not bother her;

Ashley Court, with trainer Jack O’Styke up, dashed over 800 m in 525, the last 600 in 375. Another Prince, back for another campaign, looked sharp when sprinting 600 m in 35.55.

The McKee stablemates, Solveig and Pacesetter, along with Yenolom and Infinite Secret were among the early arrivals, but all were given light tasks.
