16km classic draws 400

About 400 runners are expected to start in the annual Laser Boulder Bay Classic 16km race at Sumner tomorrow.

Among the leading entries in the men’s section are the record-holder, Don Greig (Bascik New

Brighton), Kevin O’Sullivan (University) and the 1984 winner, Andrew Stark (Christchurch). Anna Warren and Pam Riley of the host club, Sumner, are the leading women, but late entries will be accepted up to 10 minutes before the start at 2 p.m. The race, which is open to both registered and unregistered runners, starts at Cave Rock and follows a hilly course up

Evans Pass, along the Summit Road toward Godley Head and back, down a farm track and onto Scarborough and back to .Cave Rock via The Esplanade.

Prizes worth $2OOO have been given by sponsors.
