N.Z. Party meeting
Changes to the'way the New; Zealand zr.'.Party .■seiectscitsr leaders, .could be made- after the party's council meeting in Christchurch at the week-end. Mr Graeme Wiggins, the party’s president, said the main purpose of the meeting do, assess the party’s position’ and plan strategy for next
year’s General Election. On the agenda were several constitutional amendments and the meeting would discuss the
way the party’s leader and deputy leader were selected, said Mr Wiggins. Referring to recent criticism of the party’s defence policy by members, Mr Wiggins said that changes must be a decision of the annual conference, to be held in-Well-ington in September.
Mr Wiggins discounted rumours that the party would not put up candidates for every seat at the next election.
