Man who launched Bingo dies

NZPA-AP New York Edwin Lowe, who made a fortune by taking an obscure carnival game and successfully marketing it into a-national pastime called Bingo, died recently. He was 75.

Mr Lowe was a travelling toy salesman who stumbled upon the game now called Bingo at a Georgia carnival in 1929.

He founded the E. S. Lowe Toy and Game Company and manufactured Bingo, Yahtzee, and miniature chess and checker sets. He sold his company to Milton Bradley in 1973 for SUS 26 million ($49.4 million).
