Three unbeaten in softball
PA Auckland Totara Park (Hutt Valley), Poneke-Kilblrnie and Papatoetoe remained unbeaten after the first day of the national club team’s softball tournament at Albany yesterday. Poneke-Kilblrnie beat Fraser Tech (Waikato) 8-0 and then Paul Butcher Timber Pukekohe 3jo,in the Pan Am Trophy series. The pitching of Graeme Robertson (9 strike outs, 1 run, 3, hits) allowed Totara Park Jto stay level-pegging
with Wellington as it beat Tait United (Christchurch) 41, and then ran out a 1-0 winner over Fraser TCcli. Auckland’s representative, Francis Transport Papatoetoe, won its first game of the series against Rivals (Nelson) 8-1, and then defeated Taradale (Hawke’s Bay) 6-1. Papatoetoe’s strong batting appears to stand it in excellent stead to challenge Po-neke-Kilbimie and Totara Park for the trophy which each seek to win for the fifsf; time. V . r
