P.M. responds to barbs
PA Wellington The Prime Minister, Mr Lange, has suggested that Australia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Hayden, ponder the behaviour of missiles native to his own country before slinging verbal barbs about “cross-eyed javelin throwers.” Mr Hayden last week
likened New Zealand’s nuclear-ship stance and its effect on A.N.Z.U.S. to that of a “cross-eyed javelin thrower.” Mr Lange responded by saying that probably the only thing Australians were known for was the boomerang. Mr Hayden “might have cause to reflect on that."
