Special correspondent Invercargill

The yearling sisters to the multiple group one winners, Alibhai and Our Sophia, have been broken in by Brian Anderton and his staff and are destined for Australian owners.

Alibhai, winner of four group one races and now a resident sire at the Blandford Lodge Stud, Matamata, is out of the Mellay mare, Gem Flight, which is being bred by Anderton and his wife, Lorraine.

The Caulfield Cup runner-up, Our Sophia, is a daughter of another Mellay mare, Mellition (from Bellition), which is owned by a syndicate including the Andertons, the Dennis brothers and a Mosgiel veterinarian, Mr Jim Murray. The sisters to Our Sophie and Alibhai will be leased by Mr Jim Racanadus, and trained at Melbourne by George Hanlon.

A yearling Tawfiq filly from the fine racemare, Auditory (Riverton Cup winner), has been broken in and is destined for the Brisbane stable of Eric Kirwan, of Zephyr Zip fame.

A yearing colt by Noble Bijou from Gone with the Wind and a colt of the same age and by the same sire from Southern Aurora have been syndicated to Brisbane interests and will be trained by Pat Duff.
