Sick seaman landed

A Japanese fishing vessel made an unscheduled stop at Lyttelton early yesterday morning to put a sick seaman ashore.

The Hayo Maru No. 63 was fishing off the New Zealand coast when the crew member took ill with a throat infection.

The vessel put into Lyttelton at 1 p.m. yesterday, and the man was taken to Christchurch hospital where he was expected to stay for about two days.
