Paper on attractions
Christchurch’s attractions need to be better advertised overseas so that tourists know about them, says the Christchurch City Council’s cultural and public relations committee, which yesterday discussed a paper on the future development of tourist attractions in the
city. The paper was prepared by the director of Orana Park, Mr Paul Garland. Mr Garland outlines areas which need development, but notes that first an over-all planning strategy has to be worked out.
Councillors felt there was room to better advertise what was on in the city. Many tourists did not seem to know where they could go in Christchurch. The city was getting more attractions and people needed to know about them before they came to Christchurch.
