Lost ball costs Turner places
NZA-AAP Melbourne A lost ball approcahlng the eighteenth green at Huntingdale on Sunday cost the New Zealander, Greg Turner, a higher spot on the Australian Masters final prize list Turner, who finished equal twelfth, hit to the right into the crowd and by the time he reached the spot the ball had disappeared. The penalty incurred gave him a double bogey for the last hole and a day’s total of 77 for a four-round card of 292, even par. Earlier in the day Turner had not helped his prospects when he went through the front nine in 42 with six bogeys, offset by one birdie. Two birdies on the way home helped him to get back to par figures for that section. Turner, who started Sunday at one under the card after being right up with the leaders earlier in the tournament, still took home a cheque for $4510 for sharing twelfth spot with a Welshman, Philip Parkin, and Wayne Riley, of New South Turner finished equal
second in the Victorian Open two weeks ago and has found Melbourne a fairly good dollar hunting ground.
Two other New Zealanders in Sunday’s field, Frank Nobilo and Simon Owen, were paired together and returned 74 and 76 respectively to be well down the prize list
Nobilo’s four-round total was 299 and Owen carded 302.
