Airline offer
Eastern Airlines, plagued by financial problems and facing strike threats from two of its three unions, has had a buy-out offer, union sources said. Mr Frank Borman, chairman of the third-largest United States airline, revealed the offer at a special meeting with leaders of the pilots, machinists and flight attendants’ unions, the sources said. He did not identify the company that made the offer, but union speculation focused on Texas Air Corporation, owner of Continental Airlines.
