Angola attacks aid
NZPA-Reuter Luanda, Angola Angola said yesterday that the Reagan Administration’s decision to arm South African-backed Unita rebels amounted to “a declaration of war” on the Luanda Government.
“It only can lead to an escalation of violence in southern Africa as Washington continues to increase co-operation with Pretoria,” Angola’s official radio said in a commentary. Chester Crocker, the top American African af-
fairs official, told a Congressional committee on Wednesday that "both moral and material assistance” would be given to the Right-wing National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (Unita) . movement, led by Jonas Savimbi.
