PA Gisborne A test of patience between the police and three armed : men continued in bush country near Ruatoria last night As dark fell it was. 60 hours since the three men were last seen riding off on horseback into the bush after releasing a police hostage allegedly held at gunpoint for several hours. Since then the police have cordoned an area
estimated to be 20 square kilometres without a sighting of the three men. The police have appealed to the Ruatoria community to report any sighting of Christopher William Campbell, aged 29, Raymond Maraki Thompson, aged 20, and Cody Haua, aged 27. The men are well known in the small East Coast community as leading members of the Rastafarian group that has
lived there for at least a year. Campbell is generally accepted as the leader of the group. The district police commander, Mr Paul Wiseman, said the three men knew the area well and could live off the land for some time. The police have brought in Army catering staff to feed the large number of policemen brought in for the manhunt
