Jaycees to stage raft race
Rafts of all shapes and sizes will take to the Avon River for 60 minutes of frenzied racing on Monday.
The event is the Celebrity Raft Race to be held by the Jaycees to mark Jaycee Week. Groups competing include teams from airlines, radio stations, newspapers, and service organisations. The one-hour race will begin between the Antigua Boatsheds and Montreal Street at 12.15 p.m.
It is expected that competitors will be on the water for about an hour before they reach the finish at Victoria Square.
Different activities will be held each day by the Jaycees. The Jaycee Week director, Mr Ben Boult, said all proceeds from activities would go to the Theatre Royal restoration fund.
