Soloist for Webber Requiem
Nicholas, aged 12, has been chosen for a major singing part in the Australasian debut of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Requiem at Wellington’s International Festival of the Arts during March.
A Cathedral Grammer School pupil, Nicholas gained the treble soloist part ahead of eight other auditioning boy sopranos. He will sing beside the
international soloists, Sarah Brightman, who is the wife of the composer, and lain Paton. The treble soloist part reflects the agony facing a young Cambodian in being forced either to kill his mutilated sister or himself. Nicholas has sung with the St Mary’s Merivale Choir and the Christchurch Cathedral Choir.
