N.Z. to play basketball medallist
NZPA-Reuter Munich The New Zealand men’s basketball team has been drawn in the same group as the 1982 bronze medallist, Yugoslavia, for the 1986 world championships in Spain in July. It will face the Yugoslavs along with Canada, Argentina, the Netherlands and the Philippines at Santa Cruz, in the Canary Islands. Yugoslavia finished third behind the Soviet Union and the United States in the 1982 championships in Colombia. The Soviet Union, the European champion, has drawn a group comprising Australia, Uruguay, Israel, Cuba and Angola at El Ferrol.
The Americans, the 1984 Olympic champions, will face West Germany, Italy, Puerto Rico, China and the Ivory Coast at Malaga. The fourth group, which will play at Saragosa, includes Spain, Brazil, Panama, Greece, South Korea and France.
