Peninsula wins cricket
Banks Peninsula has won the Senior Shield for the fifth time in six years in the North Canterbury sub-associations’ cricket series. Peninsula clinched its win with a first-innings victory in the final match against Ellesmere, which still gained
bonus points. Ashley gained a first-innings win and bonus points in the other match against Hurunul. Malvern had a bye. The final points were: Peninsula 24, Malvern 22, Ashley 19, Ellesmere 16, Hurunui 12.
