Alliance rebates to farmers of $7.7M
PA Wellington Alliance Freezing Comtpany, of Southland, has declared a full supplier rebate for the 1984-85 season of $1.50 a head for lamb, $1.87 a head for sheep and $3O a head for cattle, amounting in total to $7.7M. An interim rebate was paid out in October 1985.
Alliance said the final
rebate declared by directors is 50c a lamb, 62.5 c a sheep and $6 a head for cattle, amounting to a cash payout of $2.4M to 3600 farmer shareholders in the region. In announcing the payout, the Alliance chief executive, Mr Sandy Murdoch, said the final rebate is being paid fully in cash, even if the full standard shareholding is not held.
"While all farmers need cash at present, our decision to pay out to everyone will be of particular benefit to new shareholders, most of whom are new entrants to farming and who probably have the greatest cash need.”
